I’ve learned a lot of life lessons over the years.
And I’m finding some amazing business advice on places like LinkedIn, as I travel along my journey to solopreneurship.
But all of the advice and lessons can be exhausting.
It is easy to get overwhelmed.
Here is a method I use to gain clarity and stay balanced.
I call it Be Keeping.
What is a "Be"?
A “Be” is a short (two to four word) directive to “Be” something.
When I find a new one, I add it to my Be hive.
This allow me to distill short, memorable drams of wisdom, which I can then sip, savor, and reflect on.
I try to pick three to focus on per week and ‘keep’ them in mind.
Here are the ones I’ll be keeping this week…
Be Proactive
As LinkedIn rockstar and the Godfather of Solopreneuring, Justin Welsh, once said, “A reminder that nobody is coming to save you.“
Tough message? Sure.
But, you need to remember that the only one responsible for your success is *you*.

Knock on that door.
Ask how you can help.
Be Thankful
It can be easy to focus on what you don’t have. What is missing. What you lack.
Being thankful refocuses you on the ‘who’ and the ‘what’ you *do* have in your life.
Being thankful can have a profound impact on your wellbeing.
Studies have found that being thankful can:
- Reduce depression
- Lower anxiety
- Support a healthy heart
- Relieve stress
Be Kind
Being kind is one of the easiest ways to build trust and connect with others.
Kindness costs you nothing, but can be priceless to the recipient.
Whether they wronged you or they simply need a helping hand. Be kind.
But as important as it is to be kind to others, it is equally important to be kind to yourself.
Life can be hard. You will make mistakes and wrong choices.
Go easy on yourself, OK?
TLDR
1) Be Proactive – You are the one who is going to save you. Get out there and start doing.
2) Be Thankful – Focus on who and what you have in your life, it will benefit all aspects of your life.
3) Be Kind – To others. To yourself. Kindness costs nothing, but it is priceless.
